Advocacy Activities

Single parents in Uganda, like any other group of people are entitled to be in control of their own lives, but due to some negative stereotypes about single parents -especially women- that exist in some communities, single parents are at risk of having their ability to exercise choice and to represent their own interests limited. In these circumstances, SPAU seeks to ensure that single parents’ views and needs are heard, respected and acted upon.

Our advocacy activities include: Rights awareness advocacy and Education advocacy.

Our advocacy activities seek to influence social change by enabling often marginalised single parents to have a direct say in the issues that affect their lives. Through our advocacy, SPAU provides support and information to single parents with the aim of empowering them and enabling them to express their needs and choices.

Our advocacy activities involve supporting and enabling single parents to:

  1. Express their views and concerns
  2. Access information and services
  3. Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities
  4. Explore options and choices

Our advocacy revolves around the belief in equal opportunities for everyone, including single parents.
